MISSY Elliott has made history by becoming the third female rapper in the US to gross over $2 million from a single concert.

On August 8, 2024, her Out of This World Tour stop at Washington D.C.'s Capital One Arena brought in a record-breaking $2.05 million, a milestone that places her among the ranks of Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj.

And she's not just making waves on Earth—she’s reaching new dimensions. Through a collaboration with NASA, Missy became the first hip-hop artist to launch a song into space, as her iconic track "The Rain" was transmitted all the way to Venus.

Celebrating on social media, Missy wrote, “YOOO this is crazy! We just went #OutOfThisWorld with @NASA and sent the FIRST hip-hop song into space… My song ‘The Rain’ has officially been transmitted all the way to Venus, the planet that symbolises strength, beauty, and empowerment. The sky is not the limit, it’s just the beginning.”

Missy’s reach goes beyond her own achievements. Longtime collaborator Timbaland paid tribute to her at the 2023 AFROTECH™ Conference, acknowledging her role in jumpstarting his career.

Sharing his journey from aspiring DJ to game-changing producer, he credited Missy for spotting his talent early on and pushing him to develop his sound. “If it wasn’t for Missy, I probably wouldn’t be Timbaland today,” he said. “She told me, ‘You have a gift,’ when I thought my sound was trash. She saw something in me and pushed me to go harder.”
